Death Valley Starcamp
Property Description
The Death Valley Starcamp is located just west of the national park boundary in Panamint Valley, and features dark skies amongst a vast, pristine desert valley surrounded by mountains. All campsites are friendly to tents and camper vans, and Sites 1, 2, 3, and 10 are available to larger RVs. Each campsite includes a picnic bench, fire ring, and access to communal porta-potties. There is no water, electricity, trash service, kitchen, or any other amenities onsite. You'll want to bring your camping setup, along with firewood if you plan to have a campfire. Please pack out all your trash and recyclables. Each night the host will operate a huge 12" telescope for about two hours beginning around one hour after sunset. Also on hand for your entertainment is a giant 2' tall LED-lit chess set, a SHIFTPOD XL arcade, and there is a free WIFI zone around the telescope sponsored by Starlink. Each campsite can have up to five guests total, as well as up to three vehicles and three friendly pets.
Driving Directions
The route includes 8 miles of county maintained dirt road which any vehicle can do. The best way to navigate to the Death Valley Starcamp is to FIRST navigate to the ghost town of Ballarat. Once you're at Ballarat, you'll turn north (left) on Indian Ranch Road, and follow it for about 4 miles until you reach the GPS coordinates of the starcamp -- also right on Indian Ranch Road. Look for the porta-potties on the west side of the road and the green alien mailbox on the east side of the road.
